Southern African Chief Justices Forum
SEAJAA
SEACJF holds an Annual Conference alongside its Annual General Meetings. Each Member country nominates two judges to attend the Conference. The AGM is attended by Chief Justices or their representative.
2016
In 2016, SEACJF held its Conference and AGM in Windhoek, Namibia from 22nd to 25th September, 2016. The theme of the conference was “Contemporary issues in the prevention of organized crime”;
In 2017, SEACJF members attended a regional consultative meeting on global judicial integrity network which was organised by The Supreme Court of Namibia and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and took place in Swakopmund, Namibia from 16th to 17th October, 2017;

In 2018, SEACJF held its Conference and AGM in Lilongwe, Malawi from 28th to 31st October, 2018. The theme of the Conference was “Strengthening Judicial Independence: Towards a shared vision of judicial selection and appointment”. The Lilongwe Principles and Guidelines on the Selection and Appointment of Judicial Officers (“Lilongwe Principles”) which seek to assist jurisdictions in SEACJF member countries in the development of legislation, policy and practice on the selection and appointment of judicial officers were adopted at this conference;
In 2019, SEACJF held its Conference and AGM in Mahé Island, Seychelles from 26th to 31st October, 2019. The theme of the Conference was “Without fear or favour – maintaining a strong, impartial, independent and accountable judiciary”;

In 2020, SEACJF was supposed to hold its Conference and AGM in Arusha, Tanzania. These events did not take place due to the Covid-19 pandemic;
In 2021, SEACJF successfully held its Management Committee meeting, Conference and AGM in Victoria Falls Town, Zimbabwe from 19th September to 24th September, 2021. The Conference was co-hosted by Zambia and Zimbabwe. The theme of the Conference was “The Judiciary and Technology in Africa”;

In April, 2022 SEACJF, alongside its Management Committee Meeting, held a Judicial Symposium on Digitisation and Internet Governance;
In October, 2022 SEACJF the Judiciary of Mozambique hosted the SEACJF conference and annual general meeting. The theme was structured on the Concept of Judicial Accountability and the Role of the Judiciary in the Fight Against Terrorism, during which a wide range of comparative experiences from member states were shared; and
In October, 2023 the Conference was hosted by the Judiciary of Tanzania in Arusha. The theme was: The Role of National Judiciaries in Dispute Resolution under the African Continent Free Trade Area: Application of Modern Technologies for the High Efficiency in Justice Dispensation.”

The last conference was held in 2024 in Kampala, Uganda under the theme Enhanced Access to Justice: Underscoring Reforms in African Judiciaries.
