Southern African Chief Justices demand Muhara to withdraw “offensive notice”

17 June 2020

The Southern African Chief Justices’ Forum (SACJF) has urged Chief Secretary to the Government Lloyd Muhara to withdraw the “offensive notice” placing Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda on forced leave.

In recognition and amplification of the important role that judiciaries play within the regions, the Southern and Eastern Africa Chief Justices’ Forum (“the Forum”) was established in 2003 to, among other things, uphold the rule of law, democracy and independence of the courts and to promote contact as well as co-operation among the courts in the regions of its operation.
